International Conference on Governance and Accountability (ICGA) 2021 

 

Centre of Excellence UiTM-ACCA Asia-Pacific Centre for Sustainability (APCeS), the Faculty of Accountancy, and the Accounting Research Institute (ARI), Universiti Teknologi MARA Malaysia are delighted to announce the 2020 Sixth International Conference on Governance and Accountability (ICGA) with the theme "Sustainability and Inclusivity" This conference will be held at Hotel Le Meridien, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, on 08 – 10 April 2021. The virtual presentation platform is offered. The conference sessions include expert key-note addresses, panel discussions, and research presentations.

As in the past successful five series, the ICGA 2021 will present participants with an ambiance to communicate and share their research findings, ideas and approaches with other researchers and leading academics, practitioners and doctoral students, within the broad field of governance and accountability.

The 2021 6th ICGA is jointly organized by APCeS together with three research clusters of the Faculty of Accountancy (i.e. Corporate Social Responsibility, Accounting Measurement and Reporting, and Transformational Accounting Education), the Accounting Research Institute (ARI), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), and other Universities as follows:-

KEY NOTE SPEAKER
 

Professor Charl de Villiers

Charl is Professor of Accounting at The University of Auckland, New Zealand, where his research and teaching interests include Management Accounting, Sustainability Accounting, and Integrated Reporting. He is a visiting professor at Universiti Teknologi MARA Malaysia. He is also an adjunct professor at the University of Cape Town, University of Pretoria, and University of the Western Cape, in South Africa; as well as a research fellow at the Centre for Sustainability Management at Leuphana University Lüneburg, Germany. Charl is President (New Zealand) of AFAANZ (Accounting and Finance Association of Australia and New Zealand).

Charl has more than 300 research based publications and presentations, including over 80 articles in refereed journals. He has published in Accounting, Organisations and Society; Journal of Management; Accounting, Auditing & Accountability Journal; British Accounting Review; and European Accounting Review (all rated A*, according to the ABDC journal quality list). Charl received the 2019 University of Auckland Business School Research Excellence Award. He publishes in both the qualitative and the quantitative research traditions and has published an average of more than 5 refereed journal articles per year since 2011, including an average of more than 3 per year in A or A* ranked journals. Charl serves on the editorial board of 10 academic journals, including Accounting, Auditing & Accountability Journal; and Journal of Accounting and Public Policy. He is the editor in chief of Meditari Accountancy Research and an editor of Accounting & Finance.
